![]() I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Norton 360 8.8 with no change in bad behavior. What happened of significance a week or so ago was I put the latest updates on macOS Monterey, but I also have Norton Live Update run all the time as well. This problem started occurring about a week or so ago. I have ensured that Norton 360 and its extensions/tasks have full disk access in my Mac Security and Privacy settings. I have even tried limiting it to a single drive with no change. Sounds like someone on this thread is just too damn lazy to write the code so EVERYONE has the option to scan everything.I have this same issue, and turning off scanning within compressed files does not circumvent the problem. So, PLEASE, don't be telling us it is unimportant to scan ALL drives. That doesn't even include all the external TB-backup drives we use. So far, I've spent over 6 hours rebuilding with a fresh root drive, and am unable to scan the other 4 drives, which is where all my data resides. Well, THEY'RE STILL OUT THERE, and this year they got me. If you aren't old enough or bright enough to remember, in years past there were a number of infections laying dormant on windows machines with timers set for 4/1 for multiple years. Yesterday was April 1st: April Fools Day. All of a sudden, yesterday, all hell broke loose from apps misbehaving, not being able to find or open docs they worked with, File Explorer not working correctly, and logins working intermittently. As it works out, I have 5 SSDs (all in the TB range of 1 - 5) on my work machine (Win11Pro). I have a PREMIUM subscription, and I DON'T have any of those screens available to me (I'm on v.4.5.25). If you want your computer scanning for hours you can schedule the kind of scan you are looking for. Malware on other disks is dormant unless executed and that is the point Malwarebytes premium steps in. Manage auto-renewal of your Malwarebytes subscription Set up scheduled scans in Malwarebytes for Windows Scan a file, folder, or external drive with Malwarebytes for WindowsĬonfigure a Custom Scan in Malwarebytes for Windows In that two years your computer was not infected by those files as they were not part of any load point.Īs has shown, one can easily set that up if wanted. Malwarebytes will block execution of files like these only with the anti-exploit module of the paid program. It also does not target media files MP3, WMV, JPG, GIF, etc. It also does not target documents such as PDF, DOC, DOCx, XLS, XLSx, PPT, PPS, ODF, etc. That means MB will not target JS, HTML, VBS. Malwarebytes does not target script files during a scan. ![]() Additionally, whenever a new location is discovered to be used by malware the Malwarebytes Research team adds that location dynamically to the outgoing database updates so the locations that are checked by the default Threat/Quick Scan in Malwarebytes can be changed on the fly by Research without requiring any engine or program version updates/upgrades. ![]() The only threat it *might* miss would be a dormant/inactive threat that is not actively running/installed on a secondary drive, however if the threat were executed then Malwarebytes should detect it. This also means that if a threat were active from a non-standard location, because Malwarebytes checks all threads and processes in memory, it should still be detected. Malwarebytes is also designed to look in all the locations where malware is known to install itself/hide, so a full or custom scan shouldn't be necessary, especially on any sort of frequent basis (like daily), especially since the default Threat Scan/Quick Scan checks all loading points/startup locations, the registry, all running processes and threads in memory, along with all system folders, program folders and data folders as well as any installed browsers, caches and temp locations. Malwarebytes is not designed to function like normal AV scanners and uses a new kind of scan engine that relies mostly on heuristics detection techniques rather than traditional threat signatures. Scanning multiple drives are basically a waste and not needed. Setting should have a feature where one could tell it what drives to all ways scan. Endpoint Detection & Response for ServersĬurrently the only way I see to scan multiple drives is the custom scan option.
